Fiberglass Pickup Cabs

Our Fiberglass Pickup Cabs are designed with many of the custom features you might expect in your next dream ” Hot Rod Pickup Truck”. These pickup cabs work well no matter what your theme, “Rat Rod”, “Street Rod” or “Muscle Truck”. Tired of searching for a usable cab and only finding rusted, cracked or dented steel pickup cabs? Our fiberglass pickup cabs are the perfect answer. They come out of the mold with a lot of the work already done for you. By starting with one of our fiberglass pickup cabs you can focus your attention to other areas.

First in our lineup is our 1927 Ford Model T Fiberglass Pickup Cab. This is our interpretation of what this cab might have looked like if Henry Ford was not building for the masses. If he targeted a more adventurous type then he might have included features like the 7 inch chopped top, 2 inch thinner windshield header and curved cab back in his design.

He might have also considered using the flush fit door design instead of the long used overlapping design. This method of letting the door overlap the body did help prevent some air noise but however is extremely hard on the paint job. Air noise can be better handled with Wind Lacing. He did change to the flush fit design in 1935.

Next in our fiberglass pickup cabs lineup is our 1935 Ford Fiberglass Pickup Cab. It offers features that will make your “Hot Rod Pickup” really stand out in a crowd. They include a 3 inch chopped top, hidden hinges and a recessed firewall.

Overall cab size was increased in 1935. With the larger cab design it is definitely a step in the right direction in terms of leg and head room.

In 1935 the Ford pickups also got a more curvaceous exterior design. They stepped away from the flat squared off look that they carried for so many years.

As with our 1927 it is available with either a non channeled or a channeled floor.

The search begins….

Depending on how far you search goes back, finding the perfect pickup cab may elude you. Whether it is the 1920’s era, 1930’s era or even as late as the 1960’s era, good steel pickup cabs are hard to find. Fiberglass pickup cabs may only be a Contact Click away.

Once found the work begins….

Once you have your steel pickup cab nestled in it’s new home now the work begins.

  • Abrasive blasting – Whether it is sand, glass, aluminum oxide or plastic some form media blasting will have to done. Do not believe in the miracle “Rust Killing Cures”that simply brush on. Do you really want your fresh new paint job starting to bubble and peal because they did not work?
  • Metal replacement – After abrasive blasting is don, you will need to repair those newly found holes with new metal. Depending on your steel pickup cab and year new patch panels may be hard to find. Hard to find usually means expensive. You may even have to hand form some panels yourself. Now if “Rat Rod” is your theme you get to skip this step in the process.
  • Cab Modifications- Your theme may not require any modifications. If not these modifications might include chopping the top, filling the roof and recessing the firewall. On a lats ’60’s or early ’70’s cab you may want a slick firewall. Getting rid of all of the bumps and holes that a stock cab had. Maybe you want to have your gas tank located somewhere other than stock and need that unsightly filler neck hole filled. Our fiberglass body cabs has the work already done.
